We’ve got this! We are the Masons !!

Many of you have been asking about the Mason family and what’s been going on, so I wanted to share an update.

Over the past month, Abby has been at Albany Medical Center dealing with several serious medical issues. Nate brought her to Albany Med in January after she began experiencing lower-body weakness. While hospitalized, she developed additional complications — the most serious being sepsis, which thankfully has now been treated. She has undergone countless tests, MRIs, CT scans, lumbar punctures, spinal taps — you name it. While doctors have narrowed things down to a likely diagnosis, Abby’s main focus right now isn’t the diagnosis itself — it’s getting strong enough to walk again.

What started as mild leg weakness quickly progressed to the inability to stand or walk. Currently, she spends her days in either a hospital bed or chair working with occupational and physical therapy to rebuild her strength. The hope is that she will soon transition to an inpatient rehabilitation facility, where she will continue therapy for several weeks as she works toward walking again.

Abby’s husband, Nate, has been balancing work and hospital visits, while her mother, Becky, has stepped in to help care for Noah. Her mother-in-law, Kathy, even traveled from North Carolina to support the family however she could. The Mason family is incredibly grateful for the many friends and loved ones who have visited, reached out, and offered help during this time.

There are still many unknowns ahead. Depending on Abby’s diagnosis and recovery, the family may need to make accessibility modifications to their home, such as handrails and other adjustments. The Masons have always been the ones to give and support others, and they would never ask for help themselves — but right now, they truly need it.

More than anything, please keep Noah in your thoughts. Due to hospital policies, Abby has been separated from him for nearly 30 days, and it may be another 6–8 weeks before she can hug him. This has probably been the most difficult during her stay. They have requested an exception twice and, so far, have been denied.

This message isn’t meant to spark debate about the medical system or come off as a plea. It’s simply a request to support a family who has supported so many others.

Abby asks for prayers, positive thoughts, and encouragement from her CBC/EPJ, Springfield, College, Altamont, WNEC, and extended family communities. Your kindness and support mean more than words can express.

Thank you for your consideration, your prayers, and your encouragement. Abby is a fighter, and she is facing this challenge the same way she faces everything else — with strength, determination, and heart.
