Helping the Kaufmann's through 2021
Donation protected
Cancer has hit the Kaufmann Family's household with Rick Kaufmann's rectal cancer diagnosis in late December 2020. Rick & Carrie have been in Elmhurst for 11 years, raising their two kids Caroline (11) and Cole (9). It is hard for them to reach out to others, but did not imagine themselves in this situation. Rick's long road has started with a 28 day radiation plan plus chemo pill (this portion of the journey is already over), then an upcoming surgery scheduled for May 14th, then more chemo in an infusion for another 4-6 months. Rick was exhausted from the radiation, but gaining strength back in preparation for the surgery.
The goal of this GoFund is to help preserve as much normalcy for the Kaufmann family and allow them to continue doing things for their children as they have in the past. Rick has recently had a change in his work status and will have to take some disability time to focus on his health. Carrie is trying to manage continuing to go to work (as a teacher) and making sure everyone is fed and hydrated. Also, something to note, CBD for pain relief and sleep has helped tremendously for Rick. He has built a relationship at Elmhurst's The CBD Store at iVape Bar. Any monetary donations will be used for this, other non-covered cancer related expenses and anything to support normalcy throughout this journey.
A meal train will be set up soon - more details to follow
They are grateful for your generosity and prayers. We know everyone has their own situations/life challenges but anything you can do to help is most appreciated.
Feel free to reach reach out to Carrie; however, she will be juggling a lot in the near future.
