On February 14, 2026, our world changed forever. My in-laws, James and Toni Ivey, were tragically killed in a car accident along with their beloved dog, Buddy.

They were deeply loved parents, family members, and friends. The loss is sudden and devastating, and we are still trying to process the reality of life without them.

Thankfully, they had good insurance, and their funeral expenses are covered. They also had an estate plan in place, and we are incredibly grateful for that. However, the road ahead will still be long and difficult. Their son James, their daughter Gretchen, and I are now facing the overwhelming responsibility of settling their estate, managing legal matters related to the accident, and navigating the many unexpected expenses that come with a loss like this.
