Help Pedro Herrera and His Family Through This Difficult Time
My name is Pedro Herrera, and I’m 15 years old. My family is going through an incredibly difficult time, and we are asking for help getting back on our feet.
Three months ago, my mother was deported, leaving our family without her support and care. My father, David, is blind, and with several children in our household who have disabilities or medical needs, providing for our family has become extremely difficult.
We are doing everything we can to survive. I try to earn money by washing windows at gas stations and taking whatever small jobs I can find. I’m only 15 years old, but I feel a responsibility to do whatever I can to help my family have food, necessities, and a safe place to live.
Our family includes my 20-year-old sister, Irene, who has a disability; my 18-year-old brother, Herson; my 10-year-old sister, Claudia, who is neurodivergent; and my 5-year-old brother, Jacob, who has asthma. I am also neurodivergent.
We are not asking for luxuries. We are asking for help with the basics: food, housing, utilities, clothing, transportation, medical needs, and other everyday necessities while our family works through this difficult situation.
Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean more to us than words can express. If you are unable to donate, sharing our story with others would also be an incredible help. Every act of kindness brings us hope and helps us move toward a more stable future.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for sharing it, and for showing compassion to our family during a time when we truly need the kindness of others.

Important Clarification From Natasha Sant, GoFundMe Organizer
My name is Natasha Sant, and I would like to provide some important information about this fundraiser to ensure complete transparency for everyone who wishes to support the Herrera family.
I am not a member of the Herrera family, and I am not related to Pedro or his siblings.
My fiancé created a video featuring Pedro and his sister that went viral online. After the video gained attention, many compassionate people reached out, expressing concern for the family and asking how they could help.
Seeing the overwhelming response and the number of people who wanted to make a difference, I stepped in to organize this GoFundMe campaign. Because Pedro is only 15 years old and is a minor, I took the initiative to help coordinate the fundraiser so that people who wanted to support him and his family would have a way to do so.
I created this campaign in response to the public’s desire to help a family facing significant hardships. My role is to organize the fundraiser and help facilitate the support that so many generous people have expressed a desire to provide.
Clarification Regarding the Funds
At the request of Pedro’s father, David Herrera, the family has asked that the funds raised through this campaign be deposited into the account of a trusted individual who can assist them in receiving and managing the money.
At this time, David does not have a personal bank account available to receive the funds because he does not currently have an up-to-date identification document. As a result, the family requested this alternative arrangement so that they can access the support they need for their essential expenses.
The trusted person assisting the Herrera family is Isabel Flores.
My name is Isabel Flores, and I have been a Houston resident all my life.
Our friend, Solo Martinez, asked for our help regarding Mr. David Herrera. As a member of the community, we accepted his invitation to assist the Herrera family.
Because we speak Spanish, we were able to communicate with Mr. David Herrera and his family and understand their situation and needs. At the family’s request, we agreed to step in and provide assistance during this difficult time.
We are happy to let everyone know that GoFundMe has accepted the family’s request for us to be the trusted beneficiary of the GoFundMe fundraiser. The funds will be used to help meet the family’s needs while Mr. Herrera and his family work toward being able to manage the funds themselves.
At Mr. Herrera’s request, I, Isabel Flores, will continue assisting David with managing the finances while simultaneously continuing efforts to help him obtain his identification documents, including his ID, Social Security documentation, and birth certificate.
This assistance is intended to help David and his family during this transition. Once David’s necessary documents are obtained and his identification is in order, I will accompany David to open a bank account in his own name. Any funds remaining at that time will be transferred into David’s personal account so that he can manage and control his own funds.
Until that time, the intention is for the funds to be used responsibly and solely for the benefit and needs of David and his family, including food, housing, utilities, clothing, transportation, medical needs, and other necessary household expenses.
If requested by the family, we will also provide assistance and oversight to help ensure that the funds are being spent appropriately and for the benefit of the Herrera family.
We want donors to understand that this arrangement is being made because of David’s current circumstances and lack of updated identification, and that the ultimate goal is for David to have his own account and direct control of any remaining funds once his documentation is in order.
My role remains that of the GoFundMe organizer, not a member of the Herrera family. The family’s request regarding the receipt and management of funds is separate from my relationship to them, and I believe it is important for donors to understand these details.
We are sincerely grateful to the Martinez family for placing their trust in us and allowing us to assist the Herrera family during this difficult time. We also appreciate GoFundMe for working with the family and helping facilitate this support.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, shared the video, shared this campaign, or offered words of encouragement. The compassion shown by so many people has been meaningful, and every effort to help can make a difference in this family’s life.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Pedro’s situation, for showing kindness, and for being willing to help a family facing circumstances no family should have to navigate alone.
With gratitude,
