My name is Pedro Herrera, and I’m 15 years old. I’m reaching out because my family is going through an incredibly difficult time, and we need help getting back on our feet.

Three months ago, my mother was deported, leaving our family without her support and care. My father is blind, and with several children in our household who have disabilities or medical needs, providing for our family has become extremely difficult.

We are doing everything we can to survive. I try to earn money by washing windows at gas stations and taking any small jobs I can find. I’m only 15, but I feel a responsibility to do whatever I can to help my family have food, necessities, and a safe place to live.

Our family includes my 20-year-old sister, Irene, who has a disability; my 18-year-old brother, Herson; Claudia, who is 10 and neurodivergent; and Jacob, who is only 5 years old and has asthma. I am also neurodivergent.

We aren’t asking for luxuries. We are asking for help with the basics—food, housing, utilities, clothing, transportation, medical needs, and other everyday necessities while our family works through this difficult situation.
