Helping the Heroes Who Find Lost Dogs

On Saturday 28th February my worst nightmare came true and Sienna went missing while exercising at the field. I turned my back on her for a second, turned back and she had vanished. It was so unlike her, she’s never run off like that, she’s too nervous for that. I think something must have spooked her for her to run like that. We searched for hours but there was no sign of her. No sightings either despite half of Wiltshire keeping an eye out for her.

It was terrifying, and we didn’t know where to turn. Thankfully, three amazing lost dog organisations stepped in, guiding us, supporting us, and helping bring Sienna safely back home. After 9 whole hours missing we finally got her back with their help.

Wiltshire Lost Dog Tracking, Drone SAR and Solstice Missing Dogs were all absolutely fantastic and gave up so much time to help us. Their expertise is just incredible and they were all so kind and so patient.

Wiltshire Lost Dog Tracking, in particular Rosie, Rhianen, Reef, Scott and Holly searched for hours and clever boy Reef tracked Sienna’s scent to give us a more accurate sense of where she’d been and to finally locate her.

Drone SAR very kindly lent us thermal binoculars which were absolutely key to locating her and then tracking her movements in the pitch black.

Solstice Missing Dogs, Karen and Jodie were incredible too and gave me so much advice and support and informed local land owners, not to mention being ready to bring more thermal equipment if needed.

These people, and others like them, are just incredible, we never think it will happen to us, I certainly never thought I’d need their help! But the truth is it could happen to any one of us. I can’t thank them enough. They are all volunteers, they give up their time and expertise willingly and generously.

To give back and say thank you, I’m running a special day of 1-2-1 gundog training sessions on Thursday 9th April. All proceeds will be split between those three organisations to support the incredible work they do helping to reunite lost dogs and their owners.

You don’t have to book a lesson to help, all donations are welcome and much appreciated. Lessons are limited to 6, please message me to book.
