Helping the Hand family through a difficult time
Donation protected
Early Friday morning the Hand family experienced an unthinkable event. Josh Hand, a loving husband and father of two, was in a car accident this morning. Thankfully Josh is stable, but withstood serious injuries that will require him to recover at home for an extended period of time. With Josh being the only income in the household, we have created this Go-Fund-Me to help his family with medical bills and necessities while he recovers.
* UPDATE FROM JOSH’S SISTER :
Today marks two weeks since Josh’s accident. He has gone through the three surgeries needed to start his long road to recovery. Two surgeries on his hips with one hip having 18 screws and plates, as well as his right shoulder. We’re waiting on more details but so far we’ve been told it’s three months with no pressure on his pelvis. His injured shoulder happens to be his right which is his dominant hand which makes recovery a little harder considering he can’t do his upper body weight to push himself up or move around.
The goal is to get him into a rehab to kick start his recovery. To do that, he has to be off any iv medications, have a routine for caring for himself and being able to get him into a wheelchair. We’re slowly moving in that direction.
He has been able to see his boys with the help of amazing nurses and PT bringing him down to the lobby to get that time.
We still don’t have a specific timeline for his recovery but he’s in much better spirits since having time with his boys and is ready to get back his normal routine including getting back to fishing.
*Update from Josh's sister:
Josh wanted to make a post to let everyone know that he’s okay, he’s awake and coherent but he was in a serious car accident Friday morning on the way to work and was rushed to the hospital. He has a broken pelvis, fractured shoulder, broken ribs and a broken sternum. He had surgery yesterday morning on his right hip, he’s scheduled for surgery Monday on his left hip and his shoulder on Thursday.
He’s so thankful for all the support and his just missing his family, his wife and his boys.
