Helping the Garza family in a time of need
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Savannah and I’m fundraising for the Garza Family. Cierra and Jeff Garza welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Maxeen Rey on August 30th via c-section. After one short week of having their baby earthside, on Tuesday, September 6th, Cierra had removed her bandages to discover “hard knots”. In the discharge paperwork, from the hospital, it stated that proper healing of the incision should not have any “hard knots”. Her cesarean incision was infected. She scheduled an appointment with an OB (obstetrician) regarding her concerns, and was seen the next day (Wednesday, September 7th). She was told this was “normal water/edema”. And sent home. The incision then began to turn red and became sore, causing discomfort and pain. Over the next two days, Thursday, September 8th and Friday, September 9th Cierra was emailing her surgeon, expressing her concerns, including pictures, but again, was brushed off and told “come back next week if it doesn’t improve”. Saturday, September 10th Cierra woke up in the middle of the night with her incision open, draining a concerning amount of blood and fluids. Jeff and Cierra went straight to the ER. There, they found out that she had a serious infection that started from the inside and worked its way to the surface. She was admitted to the hospital and began IV antibiotics, hoping it would heal the infection. Unfortunately, the doctors told her that surgery is needed and had scheduled surgery for 9pm that night. To their understanding, the surgery was successful. The doctors removed tissues that were necrotizing and removed as much of the infection as they could. There is a long road of recovery ahead. Cierra has stated that this has been the most traumatic and horrifying experience. No new mom should ever have to go through this, not during a time that her and her family should be enjoying their newest bundle of joy. Cierra will have “wound clinic” every other day to clean and replace her bandages and to monitor the incision. Gas, co-pays, medication, bills, many upcoming doctor appointments, wages affected by missing work. This is an extremely difficult time for the Garza family. I ask, that if you are able to donate, anything helps. I hope we can come together and lift up the Garza family, during such an unimaginable time. Cierra would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She helps wherever she can and has a heart of gold. All she wants is to be at home, enjoying her newborn. This nightmare was not on her agenda. Please keep Cierra and her family in your prayers. Share this GoFundMe. Donate if you can! 50 people donating a $1 is $50, that’s a co-pay, that’s gas, that’s medication, seriously, anything helps! Thank in advance for your support. It is deeply appreciated!
