I have attempted to write the following words to explain this fundraising, deleting the sentence, re-writing again and again, finding the words difficult to write in a way that explains the need to raise money.
On May 1st people started to hear about the tragic news on social media of an accident that occurred in Swansea. The name of a person that even if you briefly met, you would never forget the smile, had been taken away too soon. Dean Heaven.
His leaving this life has undoubtedly left an unimaginable gap in the lives of his children that he adored, his family that loved him, and at a time of already grieving over the loss of his father.
I don’t claim to be Dean’s closest friend, but myself and so many others went to school with him want to help, he is the type of person who no one could say a bad word against, a personality and sense of humour that would literally uplift anyone in his presence, and the only way i can think of describing him is the most genuine bloke you could ever meet. Even if you had met Dean for a brief second, you would never forget him.
As his school friends, we would like to help his family during this indescribable time and raise as much as we possibly can. We know that no amount of money is going to take away the pain of losing Dean, but if we can lift some of the financial burden and help them to celebrate his life in a way that Dean deserves, then all we ask for is a small contribution if possible.
I have personally spoken to Dean’s children and asked for their permission to do this and they are so grateful that Dean has so many people that are willing to help. This is due to Dean simply being the most unforgettable, genuine and honest bloke that anyone could have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
