Duane Dela Cruz is the 17 year old son of Cris and Engelbert Dela Cruz of Regina SK. Duane was diagnosed with Germ Cell Tumor Cancer in May of 2021. He had major surgery soon after and went through four cycles of regular cancer treatments at the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital in Saskatoon from July 21 to September 27. (The last session was done in Regina at Alan Blair Cancer Centre).
Now begins a challenging road ahead as the cost of Duane's treatment is a serious hurdle to the family. It requires numerous trips and long stays in Saskatoon, a 3-hour drive from their Regina home. This is especially challenging as the family does not own a vehicle, but relies on gracious friends offering to bring them to Saskatoon and back home. This fundraising effort hopes to support Duane and the family in covering the previous and continuing costs of the process and ensuring a secure future for Duane.
The planned cycle of Chemo Treatments is complete, however, doctor appointments and other tests are still ongoing and both of Duane's oncologists have not yet given conclusive statements in regards to his health and treatment results. Duane is doing better but still suffers some of the side effects of his treatments. The family is asking that we all pray with them as they hope that Duane has truly won his fight over cancer and that no chance of relapse will ever occur.

Originally from the Philippines, Cris and Engelbert dreamed of moving to Canada to work and raise their children. Cris arrived in Williams Lake, BC in 2017 to start working. She was also a part of the Cariboo Bethel Church community. Cris's husband Englebert, and their sons, Duane and Gavin, were able to join her in Canada in 2019, settling in Regina.
The family is grateful to everyone who has reached out thus far and asked how they can help. Your love, prayers, concern, and generosity have not gone unnoticed.
