Helping the Ameris to America

Hello, my name is US Army Lieutenant Colonel retired Wendell Stevens, and I am fundraising on behalf of the Ameri family who are refugees from Afghanistan. My wife and I sponsored Ramatullah when he came for military education in Kansas in 2015-2016, as he served in the Afghan National Army for over 10 years. When the Taliban took over in August 2021, he fled the country with his family (wife and two small sons) and nephew who served in their Air Force. The Taliban were and continue to hunt he and his nephew. After three long and dangerous months of constant hiding and traveling through Iran, they made it safely to Italy in early December. They now wait in Italy for US State Department approval for sanctuary and temporary visas. There are no US government funds or lodging to support them in Italy as they wait. Other larger funds for Aghan Refugees are targeted for Afghanistan, not in transit refugees. So, we are seeking funds to cover the costs for their food, clothing and lodging for the next six-months. Funds raise here will be sent to a US Army Colonel Mike Shekleton who is serving in Italy and who also personally knows Ramatullah. He will help administer and budget funds for them to meet their needs. Any help is greatly appreciated!
