Hi everyone, my mom Tessie Woodruff went in for a scheduled hip replacement surgery. It went very well. During recovery she had a major stroke. This was a shock to us and the doctors.
She has lost the ability to speak, eat, and use of the right side of her body. She is going to need a lot of rehabilitation going forward and we are hoping to get her into a stroke rehabilitation center. We will also be needing in home care after.
My mom is a strong independent woman. She has worked two jobs my entire life. She made sure we didn’t want for anything growing up. And she is not one that likes to ask for help.
But we need to get her the care that she needs to get back to her self. She does have health coverage that pays a certain amount but we will be paying co pays and in home care will be out of pocket as well. We will be needing gas visiting her in the rehabilitation centers, doctor appointments, etc.
Many of you know my mom and know that she is a fighter. She is strong. And she is fighting this with all she has.
I personally have missed the last week of work and will not be going back to work until we have her stable.
These funds will help me as well be able to spend more time with her and handling her care.
We have been overwhelmed with people reaching out and greatly appreciate every one of you.
