Hi, my name is Jim Conant an Army retiree after 22 years of service, 90% Disabled Veteran (DV), and avid outdoors-man who loves fishing. I want to help my fellow Veterans get into the outdoors to relieve anxiety and depression from PTSD. The good Lord knows it helped me tremendously and got me where I am today, self employed and controlling anxiety and depression on my own.
I own Jimbo’s Charters in Cape Coral, Florida. A Veteran Owned Business. I have for the last several years been taking Disabled Veterans fishing and nature trips at no charge. (Active Duty on leave , disabled Vets unable to work and DV's with PTSD) to help stop the 22 Veteran suicides a day. I’ve been doing this with my own money for years and I cant sustain it as much as I would like to. I want to be able to do more. This is where the go fund me comes into action. As donations come in I will be able to provide Veterans a lot more than a few trips per year. I want to get up to around 30-50 trips per year for our Active duty and wounded Veterans. I would Love to be able to get calls from Military members on leave and disabled Veterans and say, Yes I can do that trip because there is money set aside specifically for Veteran trips.
By doing this type of outdoor therapy with another Disabled Veteran it shows they're not alone in their fight. Just being around other Veterans is therapy in itself, add in being outdoors fishing with another Veteran its priceless and more therapy than a Dr. could provide. Afterwards they can do this on their own and with other Vets, inexpensively and help themselves out of anxiety and depressions grip and drive on to do bigger and better things with their lives.
I cant do this on my own and I need help. With every donation it goes toward getting a Veteran Outdoors. Small donations add up to trips for Veterans in need of this type of therapy. A $250 donation is awesome and can get Veterans out on the water for a full day.
I am going to help as many Veterans as I can and hope you will support me. So please help me stop the 22 Veteran suicides a day by donating anything you can.
