Helping Steven Through His Recovery

Our long time family friend, brother and local musician Steven Franks has been fighting Covid-19 Delta Variant for the last 3 weeks, only to suffer severe complications that ended up rushing him to the emergency room in extreme pain. Doctors discovered he had developed multiple blood clots on his right lung as well as a pocket of pneumonia. This is caused by the lung tissue not receiving enough blood flow and oxygen and those sections eventually dying off. After all your prayers and extensive care from the team of doctors and nurses of the covid wing at Texas Health Methodist Hospital, we are happy to say he has been discharged, but not without a difficult road to recovery.

 

Steven's healing will continue for the next 6 months until the blood clots can completely dissolve. They cause episodes of intense pain that can last for hours. He has had significant loss of weight and muscle mass that have made it very strenuous for him to walk and begin recovery without assistance. This has already left him with no income for the past month and unable to work for the foreseeable future, impacting him physically, mentally and financially.

 

Steven will need to be on blood thinners, antibiotics and other specialized medications and supplements that can dissolve the clots completely. Treatment is supervised by a top lung specialist and special care physician, including extensive doctors visits, blood tests, CT scans or x-rays to establish continued progress of their breakdown.

 

With Steven being unable to work for a substantial time, we are coming together as a family and community to ease some of these burdens and put Steven in a positive position of healing. The medications and doctor visits are a large amount of what he needs assistance with, but he will also need to locate a new physician to facilitate all the blood work, CT scans, x-rays and any recovery options that may arise. Throughout this time, Steven will also need assistance with at-home care, groceries and basic living expenses.
