Helping Sri Lankan Families affected by COVID-19

This fund is to help the families in Sri Lanka that are facing extreme poverty due to COVID-19 Pandemic. Most of their lives have been mired in poverty. Parents and children were food insecure before COVID-19 changed the world.
There is curfew in Sri Lanka in the interest of public health to enforce social distancing. This curfew, while warranted, has impacted the most vulnerable in Sri Lanka. It is already so very difficult for day laborers to earn a living wage and the COVID-19 Pandemic has made it nearly impossible for the most vulnerable during social distancing and curfew. Parents are unable to secure daily labor jobs due to COVID-19 and are now struggling to feed their children. Day laborers in Sri Lanka Village are struggling to pay for basic food necessities for their families.
In addition, with limited transportation available due the COVID-19 food supplies hardly reach the rural villages in Sri Lanka. The panic buying by the few creates imbalances in the food supply distribution among the population. Both resulting in the rural areas to lose access even to the most essential food items.
This fund is to be used to purchase food to be directly distributed to the most vulnerable families. Ven. Thiththagalle Anandasiri Thero and Meth Bo Sevana Meditation Center, Ahangama Sri Lanka will be responsible and mange the funds. Most Monks in this Monastery have known or even experienced similar hard ships in in their lives prior to their Monastic lives. Therefore they are dedicated to helping those less fortunate and focusing all their efforts towards those in need.
Any amount helps. No amount is too small. Even $5, $20, $50 will buy fresh vegetables and rice staples for mothers and their children in Sri Lanka. Every generosity is appreciated during these unprecedented times.
Ven. Thiththagalle Anandasiri Thero is most humbly requesting for donations to purchase food staples to those families in need. Dry provision packages will delivered to families in villages in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka who are disproportionately affected by this global crisis.
Please consider a donation at the request of Ven. Anandasiri Thero and the monks at Meth Bo Sevana for the relief of those most affected by economic hardship. Families may not be medically infected with the coronavirus and still be afflicted with economic hardship.
The world may continue to be in a lockdown for weeks and months to come, but we can make a difference right now even from across the globe.
