Helping Sotirios come back home

I am raising money for my best friend Sotirios. He is a doctor and paediatric surgeon at Manchester Children’s Hospital. He went to Greece to celebrate Christmas with his family and, after a tragic accident, was taken very ill. He is currently in a coma in hospital there. Sadly, his condition is such that the hospital is not able to give him the care he needs. His only chance of recovery is to come home to the UK and receive the treatment and rehabilitation he needs here. To get him back to the UK requires a medicalised transfer in an air ambulance, but the cost of this would be £20,000 and he and his family have no money to do this.

Through his work Sotirios has helped many children and families in the UK and treated children from all over the world. His work is of international renown and he played a crucial role on the night of the MEN bomb in Manchester. Sotirios helped to save lives that night.  We personally know children who would not be alive had it not been for his dedication to his work. He would tell you “I’m just doing my job”.

Since the accident friends and family of Sotirios have had their lives turned upside down, and our only hope to see him make a full recovery is for him to get the best healthcare from the incredible NHS to which Sotirios gave so much.
