Helping Solitary Bees and Two Boy Scouts
Xander and Roman are brothers who would like to attend Boy Scout Jamborees in the summer of 2023.
Here is a message from each of them:
Hello,
My name is Xander, and I would like to attend the World Jamboree in South Korea. I have been a part of the Scout program since the rank of Wolf. I am now a Star Scout, only two ranks from Eagle Rank.
The 25th World Jamboree will be held in South Korea. This event is held every 4 years in a different country and has been a tradition since 1920. For 2 weeks over 50,000 scouts will come together from 170 countries.
The theme will be “Draw Your Dream” and the activities offered will focus on global sustainability, science, culture, and tradition. There will be adventurous activities like whitewater rafting, ziplining, ropes courses, and rock wall climbing. It will also include traditional Korean kite making and a K-Pop performance!
I will be attending the event with the USA Contingent from Europe (a group of 36 youth and 4 adult volunteers). In order to attend I need to raise $8,000. This will cover the event itself, equipment, preparation, and travel.
It would be easy to just ask for donations, instead, my brother and I have come up with a project that will demonstrate our commitment. In our video, you see more about our dreams of adventure and our bee hotel project.
Yours in Scouting,
Xander
Hi,
My name is Roman, and I am a First Class Scout.
I would like to attend the 21st National Jamboree in West Virginia. This event is held every 4 years. This year they are expecting 30,000 scouts from every state. I will have to travel from Germany to get there.
This Jamboree focuses on outdoor activities like kayaking, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting. There is a BMX course, an archery range, patch trading, and fireworks. The camp has one of the longest zip lines in North America!
I will be joining the Jamboree with the Rhode Island Contingent because there were not enough scouts in Europe to make one here (36 scouts and 4 adults). I need to raise $4,000 which will cover the event, equipment, preparation, and travel.
Xander and I have worked very hard on our bee box project to show how dedicated we are to this process. Thank you for your time.
Yours in Scouting,
Roman
