Help support Skye’s needs.
The Story
My beautiful 16yo niece Skye Hayes has been in hospital for many months, facing a complex and debilitating condition that has left her unable to walk and struggling daily with pain and fatigue. Despite her resilience and determination, her recovery has been hindered by a medical system that sadly, appears to have reached its limits in supporting her.
Furthermore her mental health is suffering.
Skye was initially hospitalised for bulging discs which rapidly worsened to the point where she has now been diagnosed with a functional neurological disorder (FND), but ongoing symptoms suggest that there may be more going on — possibly a neurological or immune-based condition that requires specialist review and further testing. Her hospital care has not progressed and Skye seems to be worsening. The importance of Skye receiving vital physiotherapy, psychological, and further medical support is paramount. Skye desperately needs to regain some independence and hope.
We will be applying for NDIS support for future needs, however this all takes time.
Furthermore the impact financially has been a huge burden on Skye’s family as they need to be with her constantly.
Your donations will help cover:
• physiotherapy and rehabilitation
• Specialist medical reviews and testing
Special wheelchair for transportation
• Home support and equipment for mobility when able to go home.
On call nurse
• Psychological care and emotional healing
• Therapies and nutritional support
Every dollar will go directly toward Skye’s recovery journey — to restore her strength, dignity, and sovereignty over her own health.
A Message from Those Who Love Her
Skye is a gentle, creative soul who lights up every room she enters. She’s shown incredible courage through a confusing and often isolating medical experience. Now, she needs our collective support to reclaim her life, her mobility, and her hope.
If you can give — even a little — please know it makes a real difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page helps just as much.
