Help support Skye’s needs.

The Story

My beautiful 16-year-old niece, Skye Hayes, has been in hospital for many months, facing a complex and debilitating condition that has left her unable to walk and struggling daily with pain and fatigue. Despite her resilience and determination, her recovery has been hindered by a medical system that sadly appears to have reached its limits in supporting her. Furthermore, her mental health is suffering.

Skye was initially hospitalised for spinal-related issues and was subsequently treated under an incorrect diagnosis, which has significantly delayed appropriate care. Despite ongoing and worsening symptoms, her hospital treatment has not progressed, and there is growing concern that there may be more going on that requires specialist review and further testing. Skye’s condition continues to deteriorate, and the importance of her receiving vital physiotherapy, psychological care, and comprehensive medical support is paramount. She desperately needs the chance to regain some independence and hope.

We will be applying for NDIS support for Skye’s future needs; however, this process takes time. In the meantime, the financial impact has placed a significant burden on Skye’s family, who need to be with her constantly to support her care and wellbeing.

Your donations will help cover:
• Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
• Specialist medical reviews and further testing
• A specialised wheelchair for transportation
• Home support and mobility equipment when Skye is able to return home
• An on-call nurse
• Psychological care and emotional healing
• Therapeutic and nutritional support

Every dollar will go directly toward Skye’s recovery journey — to help restore her strength, dignity, and sovereignty over her own health.

A Message from Those Who Love Her

Skye is a gentle, creative soul who lights up every room she enters. She has shown incredible courage through a confusing and often isolating medical experience. Now, she needs our collective support to reclaim her life, her mobility, and her hope.

If you can give — even a little — please know it makes a real difference. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page helps just as much.

Thank you.
