Hi, my name is Brandy “Sunshine” Baker, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Shelly, and her husband, Powell Combs.
My sister and brother-in-law have been married for 32 years and have lived in the same home in Hamilton for 31 years—a home filled with memories, love, and perseverance. Sadly, for over 20 years, the HVAC system in their home has not been working. Over time, the air inside the home became stagnant and unhealthy, and the ductwork accumulated years of dust and buildup that now requires professional cleaning.
Recently, Shelly was hospitalized with the flu and is still in the hospital working to regain her strength. Due to her illness and hospitalization, her lungs are now compromised and medically fragile. Clean, circulating air is no longer just about comfort, it is a critical medical necessity for her recovery and long-term health.
There is an urgent need to:
• Install a new, properly functioning HVAC system
• Professionally clean all ductwork
• Replace furniture that has absorbed years of dust and stagnant air
• Provide a deep professional home cleaning, including sanitation and air-quality restoration
Shelly is physically unable to complete these tasks, and financially, she and her husband simply cannot afford them on their own. Asking for help—especially from people she doesn’t know—is deeply uncomfortable for her. But this season has brought needs that are greater than what they can meet alone.
I want to say this clearly, for anyone reading:
No matter where you sit today, every one of us, or someone we love will have a season of need. And when others can help, it is okay to ask.
Scripture reminds us of this truth:
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
As her family, we are stepping forward with humble hearts, trusting that God places the right people in our path at the right time. I truly believe God laid this mission on my heart—not only to share their story, but to connect them with people who feel led to help bring healing, restoration, and safe air back into their home.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000, which will go directly toward restoring a healthy living environment so Shelly can return home safely and continue her recovery.
Every single gift (no matter the size) moves them one step closer to breathing safe air and living in a home that supports healing instead of harming it.
If you’re unable to donate, we ask just as sincerely for your prayers and for you to share this fundraiser with others.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and kindness. May God bless you abundantly for helping care for this family during their time of need.
With love and gratitude,
Brandy “Sunshine” Baker ☀️
