To the friends and family of our beloved father, Jimmie Wayne Washington, who departed from us on July 29, 2025.
Jimmie was born to Mary Lee Washington and Booker T. Washington on May 1, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri. At the young age of seven, he moved to San Francisco, California, where he would reside for the rest of his life.
During his new chapter in California, Jimmie embarked on many adventures. With a deep passion for music, he once worked as a DJ, hosting various events around San Francisco and even for a radio station. He had a love for collecting antiques and ran his own storefront, Mary’s Antiques, alongside a successful hauling business, Stanford and Sons Hauling, which served many estates in the Bay Area and helped countless people move their homes.
Jimmie also dedicated years of service to the Housing Authority of San Francisco until his retirement. In recent years, he enjoyed watching boxing and sporting events, and he never missed his daily music sessions.
He will be remembered for his incredible stories, wise advice, contagious laughter, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. Jimmie touched countless hearts and leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and kindness.
Jimmie is survived by his children: Jimmy W. Washington Jr., Derrick J. Washington, Tyrell D. Washington, Angel V. Washington, and LaMya L. Washington; and his beloved grandchildren: Jimmy A. Washington, Janessa A.Washington, Laura E. Monteverde Washington, Jose W.Washington, Tyrell D. Washington Jr., Tyler S. Washington, and A’Lani D. Cooper.
