Hi, my name is Cassandra Grant. I have been a teacher in Berkeley, CA for over 15 years. I've always had a passion for working with children and helping them thrive in a safe and healthy environment.

 

In April 2019, I had the pleasure of visiting The Gambia, Africa, for the first time, my husband's homeland. While there, we took a tour of Jabang Primary School. What I saw, shocked and saddened me with the condition the school was in. The lack of basic resources (ie: books, pencils, and paper) was heartbreaking to see as an educator. The physical environment also needed substantial upgrades and repairs.

 

After this visit, the school weighed heavy on my heart. I vowed to return and help the children of Jabang Primary School, unfortunately, the pandemic happened and halted my travel back to The Gambia.

 

I am happy to announce that I am finally able to return to The Gambia this summer. I created this GoFundMe to help the children of Janbang school raise funds to do minor repairs, basic school supplies, and support their hot lunch program.

 

I would like to thank you in advance for your support. I am looking to raise this money by June 10th before my travels.  Together we can give the children of Janbang School a chance to thrive in a safe and healthy environment.
