Almost two years ago, this beautiful human being was rear-ended on the highway.

As a result, she suffered multiple injuries.

Sarah is a second grade teacher and outgoing, active person. She pushed through her injuries for over a year (while going to physical therapy and chiropractors) before finally learning that she had a cracked vertebra, along with her various other injuries from the accident.
She completed the 2017-2018 school year - waiting for much needed surgery until the summer months, when it would not affect "her kids." Well, that was the plan...
In July 2018, she went for surgery to inject the cracked vertebra with cement to hopefully correct the ongoing, daily pain with which she had been dealing. She saw THE surgeon, who told her himself he had never had a single post-operative issue.
After the "routine" procedure, Sarah got home and noticed that her side was burning with stabbing pain - which was growing worse, not better. The doctor's office assured her that this should be fine within 24 hours, as the surgeon had not "worked in that area." Listening to her body, instead of the doctor's office, Sarah went to the ER.
There, she found out that the surgeon had injected too much cement into the crack, which had overflowed and was now pressing on the nerves in her spine. She was told that additional surgery to try to repair the mistake was too dangerous and would potentially be fatal (at worst) or cause paralysis (most likely). The surgeon advised that the best course of action would be medication to manage the pain for the rest of her life. Sarah is 32...

Determined not to give up, Sarah went for second, third, and fourth opinions. She found an amazing surgeon in New Hampshire who agreed to take on her case with the care and detail that it deserved. He couldn't promise that the surgery would have no complications, but he promised to do his best to achieve the best outcome possible.

Much to the relief of her family and friends, the second surgery was a success. The excess cement was removed and the complications were minimal. However, Sarah's road has been far from easy going since.
She has been unable to return to work with the kids and teachers that she loves. She is still in constant pain, and going through hydrotherapy to try to regain full range of motion. Her body and heart are still healing from two years of trauma.
To add to these troubles, Sarah's finances are in chaos. She, who would give anything she had for someone else in need, has been suffering through emotional and financial stress, feeling unable to ask for the help she desperately needs.
That's where we come in...

Caits, Jess, and Nicole - Sarah's friends - here to ask you - her friends and family - to help us help this amazing woman. She is in danger of losing her house, as her physician has not been able to clear her to go back to work (although she is slowly healing, she cannot lift anything even remotely heavy, or catch a falling kiddo, or stand on her feet for hours at a time) and she has not been cleared by disability to be able to do anything to supplement her income.
We are asking that you donate anything you can, to help our friend save the home she has put so much of her time and energy into making her own.
As a thank you, we are planning a party at the Majestic - to be held on Saturday, January 12. Not just any party, but a themed sing-along filled with popcorn, friends, gratitude, and love!
Sincerely,
Caits, Jess, and Nicole
