Please Help My Sister’s Family Rebuild After a House Fire
In October 2024, my sister Jessica and her family’s lives changed in an instant when an electrical fire—caused by outside sources—damaged their home beyond livable condition.
Since then, they’ve been living between a hotel and a rental home, trying to piece life back together while navigating endless obstacles.
At first, they were told their home would be finished by May 2025. Then the date was pushed to October 2025. Now, it has been pushed again to February 2026.

Here is the hardest part: no work at all was done this summer! ZERO.
They are stuck in a standstill between their contractor, their insurance company, and their mortgage company.
The mortgage company refuses to release any additional funds until more work is completed—but without those funds, the work can’t move forward. This has put my sister and brother-in-law in an impossible position: they’ve been told they need to come up with around $30,000 out-of-pocket just to get their home moving toward completion.
Adding to the stress, their landlord has made it clear they must move out of their rental by February 1st, 2026—no extensions this time.
On top of that, they are supporting a son who just started college and juggling unexpected fire-related expenses. While some of those costs will eventually be reimbursed through insurance, many won’t, including the possibility of needing a down payment on a new place if their home isn’t ready in time.
I want to be transparent: my sister and brother-in-law did not want me to set up this GoFundMe. We’ve talked about it, and they refused—because they’ve always been the type of people to figure it out on their own. But at this point, the situation feels overwhelming, and I can’t stand by without trying to help them get through this.
If you’re able to contribute in any way, it would mean the world to them, and to our family. Even the smallest amount helps move them closer to stability and back into their home. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would be such a blessing.
Thank you so much for reading, for caring, and for supporting my sister’s family through one of the hardest seasons of their lives.
