Helping Rama

Thank you for your interest in this Go Fund Me account. The account is being organized to assist a dear friend and fellow colleague who needs the money for his sister to battle cervical cancer. Rama is an amazing Registered Nurse at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, Washington. He immigrated to Washington State in 2002, leaving behind his parents and siblings in Kenya. Since being in America, he has worked in healthcare and advanced his degree to be the amazing bedside nurse he is today and became a US Citizen in 2016. Not only has Rama supported his own family here in Lakewood, but he has cared for his family still in Kenya by being the medical and financial advocate needed when both his parents were ill and eventually passed away. Now he is back at being an advocate for his sister, Khadija, who is battling cervical cancer at the young age of 47. Rama is working endless shifts to assist her with the financial cost of treatment while also providing for her five children. Khadija will need both chemo and radiation therapy to beat her cancer. Africa does not have insurance coverage for its citizens; therefore Khadija is responsible for all of her medical expenses and travel costs that will need to occur for her seven weeks of treatment. Here at St Clare hospital, when one of our colleagues is struggling, we come together to support in many fashions. For the past six years I have worked with Rama as a Care Manager so have witnessed firsthand his expert care for the patient’s that are admitted and know that he has personally cared for so many people that I am sure you or a loved one you know has benefited from his skills and compassion. This past winter, when my 96 year old grandmother was admitted to St. Clare, we were blessed to have Rama as her nurse and to this day she still talks about how much she enjoyed having him as her nurse. Because Rama is an integral part of the St. Clare family and Lakewood community, this fund is to help assist him with raising the money that is needed for his sisters treatment in a timely fashion without working himself to exhaustion in this time of Covid. The goal of $20,000 is to cover Khadija’s portion of the cancer treatment, to assist with travel accommodations since she is seven hours one way for treatment, and to provide for her children while she is unable to work. All money raised will go to Khadija and her children. Please help us reach our goal.
