Business School Students Raising Funds for Vietnamese Flood Victims

Deadly Central Vietnam Floods
Floods have submerged homes in the central regions of Vietnam and killed almost 100 people and displaced over 53,000 families. The region has suffered from extremely high rainfall. This combined with landslides and heavy flooding has caused significant damage to both residents and infrastructure. With over 17 kilometres of roads being destroyed. This level of damage has left areas of Vietnam such as Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Tri desperately seeking help and aid.
The damage caused has been widespread with river levels throughout the entire country reaching the highest levels in two decades, according to Vietnamese media. This increased water in the river systems has led to the flooding of nearly 200,000 homes and over 300 schools. Peoples livelihoods and way of life has completely changed and much of it destroyed.
The death toll is rising and the people are in desperate need of aid. Many are missing and families are grieving loved ones whilst struggling to find shelter or food.
The students at the University of Lincoln have a special relationship with Vietnam. LSMIF, Lincoln Student Managed Investment Fund, have one sponsor from Vietnam (MBS) and share a goal with Universities in Vietnam. A mission of education and global collaboration. Our friends at the National Economics University in Hanoi & The University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City have played a large role in shaping our fund that we want to give back to the Vietnamese community and help provide aid and support in a time of disaster.
Many countries and charities have pledged to provide disaster relief aid to help cope with the national emergency that Vietnam faces. We at LSMIF would also like to help.
We would like to create a campaign to send aid money to the most affected in Vietnam and buy supplies such as drinking water and rice. Two supplies that are in most critical of need right now.
We are asking that you give whatever you can to help the relief effort and aid of the people of Vietnam.
Please consider giving to this very worthy cause and help save lives. Every donation will go towards providing humanitarian aid to the people of Vietnam
All money will be sent to local people affected by this disaster and charities in the central Vietnamese provinces. We will contact the Embassy of Vietnam in the UK to facilitate transfers to worthy charities and charitable causes dealing with the flood disaster relief.
