Sweet 5-year-old, Cora Tew gained her angel wings on November 19, 2021. She put up a tough three year fight against Rhabdomyosarcoma with her family and friends beside her all the way. MADISON – Cora Grace Tew, age 5, of Dogwood Acres Lane, died Friday, November 19, 2021, at Duke University Hospital. She was born on June 2, 2016, in Forsyth County, to Austin Paul and Shelby Michael Tew.
Cora was full of happiness no matter the struggles she was up against. She enjoyed her Make-A-Wish trip to Disney in July where she rode the fastest and most thrilling rides. She enjoyed playing Barbies, jumping at the trampoline park and always enjoyed sleepovers with Nana and Papaw and Mimi.
In addition to her parents, Austin and Shelby Tew, survivors include her sister, Braylen Tew; maternal grandparents, Craig and Karen Michael of Mocksville; paternal grandparents, Paul Tew (Tammy) of Kernersville and Pamela Tew of Stokesdale; maternal great-grandmother, Barbara Thornton of Mocksville; paternal great-grandparents, Byron and Nancy Oldham of Siler City; uncles and aunts, Ryan and Sarah Michael of Salisbury, Korey and Ashley Bonser of Forest, Virginia, Kendall Tew and McKenna Tew; and cousins, Bree Bonser, Adeline Michael, Waylon Michael and Hank Michael.
A private family funeral service will be conducted at Liberty United Methodist Church in Mocksville with Dr. Mark A. Talbert and Dr. Steven K. Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A public celebration of life service will be announced at a later date in which funds will be raised for Rhabdomyosarcoma research.
