On November 5th, 2018 My dad (Paul Goeke) suffered cardiac arrest on his patio causing him to fall and hit his head on concrete. This has lead to severe short-term memory damage after losing him for a total of 15 minutes in the back of an ambulance. After weeks in the hospital, we finally got him home to start rebuilding. Since getting him home we have been back to the hospital numerous times for multiple reasons revolving around this accident.
On top of injuries found from the fall, we have found out that Paul has stage 3 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and an unfortunate, rare, cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).
Bile Dict Cancer is the rarest if not one of the rarest forms of cancer there is and has taken over my dads life in a short period of time. He has been to The James at Ohio State to have half of his liver removed but we have found his heart from the accident is not strong enough to withstand surgery or a transplant. Starting Monday, 7/29/2019 Paul will start taking his first round of chemotherapy pills in the comfort of his own home to hopefully eliminate the cancer from spreading to other vital organs.
The last few months have not been the easiest but my family has pushed through. My dad was the sole provider for my parents home since my mom has not been able to work after being put on disability herself a few years back.
I normally would not submit this type of thing unless it was serious. At this time, I am hoping friends, family, even maybe some kind strangers can help my parents get through this stressful life change and help pay down some of the medical expenses. While waiting for disability, I’m asking anyone who can to help my family get through this tough time with a small donation. Anything is appreciated even if all you can donate is a prayer. Thank you for your time in reading this.
