Helping Pastor Mafabi's Ministry

Donation protected

I learned about Pastor Mafabi Chris Omir in 2011 from an transcribed interview on the The Reformed Reader and I was so encouraged to find out how God has used him in Mbele, Uganda.  What really impressed me was the fact that he was a Reformed Baptist and one of his biggest concerns was that his members did not have enough Bibles.

Pastor Mafabi leads New Hope Baptist Church in Mbele, Uganda, but has two branches in the surrounding areas. The total amount of members are about 450. He also runs an orphanage.

I added him on Facebook in 2011, our friendship has grown. I was so blessed and encouraged by what God had been doing with his ministry that I wanted to help out. I promised him that I would help him in his efforts to have enough bibles for his members; however, life happened and I was unable to provide any kind of financial support.

Despite my failure to support his ministry, Mafabi continued to treat me like a brother and friends for years to come.  It's July 2019 and I think it's time to get the ball moving again.

What's the goal?

The goal is to raise enough money to provide enough bibles for the members of his church (and two branches). That's a total of 450 people! Our first milestone is to raise $1,000. One Bible can cost about 25,000 - 50,000 Ugandan shillings (approx. $6.75 - $13.50 US Dollars).

Pastor Mafabi brought to my attention that the ministry has been able to provide 113 of today (7/9/19). This puts us at about 350 bibles needed. That means the total amount should be estimated at around $2,300 - $4,700 for bibles alone.

This is definitely a long-term goal, but for now, we will start in small increments. Our first goal would be to raise $1,000.

FAQ

*Can we mail bibles, ministry supplies and more to New Hope Baptist Church in Uganda?

The answer is yes, but please consider the costs. Shipping a box of bibles, supplies and/or clothes can easily cost $100+. Also, Pastor Mafabi would need to pay a tax, according to Uganda law.

*Can we trust the money will be used for the ministry? Yes.

I've personally helped Mafabi before and he was willing to send photos of the receipts. He's willing to prove that he's using the money for what it is intended for.
