Helping Owen East and family with expenses
Owen Daniel East was born on October 20th, 2016, 2 months premature and spent 6 weeks in the NICU at Johns Hopkins. Since coming home, Owen has grown into an inquisitive, bright and charming 4 year old that loves racing cars and anything to do with Marvel. He loves to sing, dance, and make friends with anyone he meets. He is so proud of recently becoming a big brother.
On June 18th, 2021 Owen was diagnosed with cancer, an inoperable and aggressive form of brain tumor called a glioma. As the devastating news sets in for his family (Parents Erica & Brad East and newborn brother Andrew), the road ahead is difficult and unclear.
This GoFundMe was created to help ease the financial burden this will place on the family as they try to provide the best possible care for him over the coming months. The donations will be used for medical expenses as well as temporary housing in Boston near the hospital where Owen will get treatment for 6 weeks. It will also help offset loss of income as parents will not be working full time to maximize their time spent with Owen. Anything left over will be donated directly to pediatric brain tumor research, which currently receives less than 4% of federal funding.
