Helping out Em in her cancer battle
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ruthie and in December last year my beautiful sister Emma was very suddenly and unexpectedly diagnosed with
Stage 3C1 cervical cancer. This presented as a large tumour that has spread into the vagina and lymph nodes and she has a big battle ahead of her to beat this thing but everyone who knows Em knows that she has got this! Emma is a mother of 3 children, partner, sister, daughter and aunty amongst a large range of roles she plays in her everyday life.
Her initial treatment consists of
6 rounds of chemo weekly
Then 5 weeks of radiation 5 days a week plus weekly chemo on top.
After this, travel to Brisbane for brachytherapy.
She is about to undertake her 4th round of chemo.
In the short time since her diagnosis Emma has already been admitted twice to hospital for severe blood loss, crashed twice, had 2 blood transfusions and up sent up to GC hospital. Her partner Siua had to stop working and drop everything to go with her for all of this.
Emma is an elite sportswoman and so involved in the community. Between work and parenting she also plays waterpolo (women and men’s), volleyball and volleyball coaching. I want to fundraise some extra funds for her to help cover some of the expenses that will come up over this journey for her to ease some of the strain on top of everything else going on. Multiple trips (daily when radiation starts) to the hospital, time off work for both her and Siua, extra medications, as well as being able to buy some simple necessities to ease the journey during this hard time. Any little amount helps and is so appreciated.
Emma is so loved and it is heartbreaking to watch this amazing and strong woman go through this but we know she will come out the other end and absolutely has this in the bag.
Thank you!
