As a parent, nothing prepares you for the moment you hear the words “your child has cancer.”

Our world changed in an instant when we were told that our son, Werner, has been diagnosed with plasmacytoma — a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

The journey ahead is long and difficult. Werner is undergoing rounds of chemotherapy and will later face a stem cell transplant. This means weeks in the hospital and months of recovery, far from the comfort of home. The treatments give him the best chance at remission, but they also bring enormous costs — medications, travel, accommodation, and time away from work.

As a family, we are doing everything we can to stay strong for him. Werner faces each day with courage and an unshakable positive spirit, even on the hardest days. Watching his determination gives us strength — but as parents, it’s heartbreaking to see your child endure something no one should have to face.
