Hi, my name is Stephen Hithe, and I'm writing to request your assistance in helping my brother Richard Harvey and me provide my mother with a suitable standard of living. Yesterday morning in St. Louis, she became a victim of one of that city's worst flood disasters since 1915. She has lost everything from picture album books to almost all of her clothing. By the grace of God, with flood waters chest high, this 76-year-old great-grandmother escaped her flooded apartment with some important papers and one trash bag of dry clothes. When my brother Richard reached the evacuation center where she had been transported, he described her as being barely able to talk, on the brink of hyperventilating, soaking wet, and exhausted. She is one of the most generous people I've known my whole life. She taught my brothers and me what it meant to do something for someone, not expecting anything in return because our blessings and rewards come from God. She taught us that giving is from the heart, which has brought us to this point.
Like many other tenants at the property where she resided, she was under the impression that her renter's insurance policy included all the coverages required by the property management. She never saw her policy and said she had not been presented with the option to include flood insurance. We'll be looking into this with her. In the meantime, we realize that her displacement will be lengthy due to the extent of damage done to her apartment. Additionally, her car was damaged by flood waters and a falling tree that destroyed her front windshield and crushed the hood. The funds will be used to relocate our mother to a different apartment complex or senior community in another part of St. Louis County, restore her wardrobe, replace medical devices and medications, and purchase furniture, household appliances, and equipment. We are certain her car insurance policy will not pay a claim sufficient to purchase another car like the one lost in the flood, so any remaining monies would go towards assisting with purchasing another vehicle. We're so thankful to have our mother, knowing we could have been planning a funeral instead of raising money for living expenses...God is faithful! Whatever your heart desires to contribute to this meaningful cause will be most appreciated.
On behalf of our mother, Tommie Williams, my brother and I pray God's blessings upon you, and again, thank you in advance for your generosity.
