Our friend, Nadia Hicks, has been through a lot this year. She has had multiple hospital stays. The most recent hospital stay was the most difficult. She went to Memorial Hospital on October 16 for surgery (colon resection) due to diverticulosis; she was out of work several days before the surgery. She expected to be in the hospital for 5-7 days. There was one complication after another and she had a second surgery on October 25. A week later she was in CCU with a pulmonary embolism. After a long 26 days, she was finally able to return home last Monday. She has a long road of healing ahead of her. She is currently receiving home health services for wound care and physical therapy and is slowly improving.
Nadia has been out of work for several weeks and will not be able to return to work for several more weeks. Imagine what it would be like if you had to miss work for even one month. Bills and living expenses continue during this difficult time. We are asking those who are able to make a contribution to help our friends during this stressful time. When we know someone is having a difficult time, we often don't know how to help. One thing most of us can do is give...even if it is just a little. If we all give a little, it will go a long way towards helping this family as we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Let us be thankful for what we have and open our hearts to share some of our blessings with others.
