I am starting this page because so many people have reached out about my friend Kevin.
Kevin Howell has worked at the Vintage Brewing Co in Sauk City since the doors opened.
Most people that visit Vintage wonder if Kevin has a cot in the basement because even when he isn't working is he stopping by to check in with everyone. Kevin is basically everyone's work grandpa.
On Sunday February 27th Kevin stopped in to say hi, and then in a matter of 5 minutes his life changed. At this point it is safe to say he experienced a heart attack. Fortunately there were two team members onsite that were previous EMTs and able to start CPR on Kevin until the paramedics came. Kevin made it to Sauk Prairie hospital where he was med flighted to the UW.
When he arrived at the UW he had to be revived yet again, so in total it is unsure how long he went without breathing. The first few days he was on life support and his prognosis wasn't good. Given Kevin is the toughest 63 year old out there he fought like crazy.. they took him off life support and was breathing on his own. Within a day he was asking to go back to work because he wanted to make sure his family was taken care of.
Kevin lives with his life partner Cathy along with their 8 year old grandson Aiden and his father Andrew. Kevin and Andrew are both providers for their family. Cathy has epilepsy and is unable to work and their grandson Aiden is autistic so you can understand why Kevin is determined to get back home to help Andrew to take care of their loved ones.
At this point Kevin is going to be having a triple bypass in the next few weeks, they are also continuing brain scans to determine any cognitive damage that may have been done. His stay at the UW is unknown at this point.
Our goal is to continue to care for this loving family with their upcoming move and making sure they are financially supported so Kevin can focus on his health and getting home to his loved ones.
