Hi,
For a third time James shockingly looks at a pile of debris that once was his home. This most recent loss came in the wake of the Hopkins wildfire in Ukiah, CA, as a result of arson. It was a total loss; nothing remains of his house, garage, outbuildings, truck and camper, or personal possessions, except for his kitchen compost bucket and birdbath which miraculously survived.
Further complicating things James lives in a WUI area where insurers no longer write new policies, particularly for manufactured homes, he had to get insurance through the California FAIR Plan, which is an insurer of last resort. It's a bare bones policy, does not cover full replacement cost of the dwelling or personal property, and offers no coverage for any landscaping. James has spent the last few years creating new vegetable and flower gardens, so it was especially heartbreaking to see all his work (and money) go up in smoke.
While this is the third house that James has lost to wildfires in Mendocino County, he is grateful for having survived, along with his dog, and very thankful for all the expressions of love and support from everyone in this difficult time.
We are hoping this fundraiser will help take some stress off of his life and create an opportunity for him to see what his next steps will be.
Let's help him to become the Phoenix Rising out of the ashes!
In deep Gratitude,
Gail Michelle, for our community of friends
