Hi everyone,
Many of you know my dad as Coach Anderson. He dedicated his life to serving and mentoring young people as a high school teacher and basketball coach. His career took him to Chinle and Kayenta on the Navajo Reservation, and later to St. Johns, Eagar, and Page, Arizona. Throughout his career, he poured his heart into his students and athletes, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.
Our family has been navigating life with Alzheimer’s since my dad was diagnosed at just 62 years old in December 2021. Since then, my mom has done everything in her power to care for him at home while also working remotely. Balancing full-time work with full-time caregiving has taken an enormous toll on her emotionally and physically — especially as she continues to recover from a stroke she had in 2024.
At this point, my mom has truly done all she can do. She has gone above and beyond to keep my dad safe and cared for at home, but his needs have progressed to a level that is no longer manageable without professional support.
My sister lives nearby and helps whenever possible, but she is also raising four kids and running her family farm, which makes it difficult for her to provide the level of care my dad now needs.
As my dad’s condition has progressed, it has become clear that he now needs placement in a memory care or assisted living facility to stay safe and receive the care he requires. Unfortunately, the high cost of these facilities has made this transition extremely difficult, and our family has not been able to make it happen on our own.
This fundraiser is to help our family offset the growing expenses related to my dad’s Alzheimer’s care, including assisted living or memory care placement, medical-related costs, and other necessary support services. Funds will be managed by our family and used to pay care providers and cover necessary care-related expenses as we work to secure appropriate placement and support for my dad.
Any funds raised will go directly toward helping us get my dad into a safe and supportive environment and providing our family with some much-needed relief from around-the-clock caregiving.
If you are able to donate or share, we are deeply grateful. Your kindness, support, and prayers truly mean the world to our family during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our support system.
