Helping our Brother - Gilbert Capt. Greg Santilli

My beautiful wife Arley was an active, outgoing and active woman. She owned her own salon business, worked out daily and cared for our daughter, while I was deployed the year prior. She took care of every duty needed to keep our household running. She was healthy, vibrant, and amazing.
After my deployment her health began to take a turn for the worse. She’d see her primary care doctor to no avail. Every 3 months or so she would get a mild illness that the doctors always wrote off as stress or fatigue. On March 3rd, 2020 she went to her doctor because she wasn’t feeling well. Her doctor gave her a Medrol steroid pack because she believed she was having allergies. That night after her last pill of the day she told me she wasn’t feeling well and had her first syncopal episode that night. After her second one, Mesa fire transported her. She was in bad shape. For the next 4 months we were in and out of the ER multiple times a week with no answers. We went to every specialist we could and nobody had any answers what was going on. We felt overwhelmed, helpless, and confused. We were trying everything. Her symptoms ranged from migraines, light sensitivity, fatigue, chest pain, joint pain, rashes, difficulty breathing on top of multiple other medical problems. With no relief or diagnoses we started Holistic care which within 3-4 months diagnosed Arley with Chronic Lyme disease. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover holistic treatment and we are at about $50,000 over the past two years. In two years we have been to two different doctors and have had minimal progress. We are now on our third and it seems very promising. I have watched my wife go from an Active, 135lb very fit cross fitter to a 110lb woman who struggles to get out of bed during the day. Illness like this takes its toll both mentally and physically. It is terrible and helpless feeling to watch her lose more of herself every day.

We are now in the position where we need a little help to get us through this temporarily. It is beyond hard for me to ask for help, as it is for most of us who choose the life of service to others. I’m hopeful that this new doctor can help provide some relief. All I want is for my wife to stop suffering so much and for her to be able to live again, for her, for our daughter, and for me. Thank you for taking the time to read about our family. We are grateful for any generosity that we are afforded.   Greg
