As we landed in England after an amazing 4 weeks in Australia, our phone was turned off of aeroplane mode and a Facebook message pinged up from my mother in law saying “please call - urgently”. The text no one wants to receive. The million and one things that go through your mind - yet NOTHING could prepare us for what we were about to be told….. My mother in law answers her FaceTime and explains that Josh’s sister / my sister in law Hayley has cancer. They had found multiple liaisons on her spine. More tests were going to be carried out. Our world stopped and we realised just how far away we were. The next 24hrs I prayed to any god that would listen, I prayed that this was an awful nightmare that we would wake up from or at least it was going to be fully cure able with the right treatment. Our beautiful Hayley was 8 days away from her 32nd birthday - this couldn’t be happening to her. We then got told that it was cancer that had started in her Right Breast and more liaisons had been found in her spine, sternum, liver and ribs. We then had to wait for her oncology appointment. To think that for 4 months prior Hayley had been in terrible pain with her back and attended doctors, physiotherapy and osteo appointments with little to no relief - it was a CT scan that found all of this. Hayley continued to have a smile on her face and battled on trying to get the balance of pain relief and a few hospitals stays (due to high calcium). After 20 long days her oncologist appointment finally arrived. It was at this appointment we found out Hayley has stage 4 metastatic cancer which heartbreakingly there is NO cure. Hayley started her chemo journey the very next day with her husband Wayne by her side and a smile on both their faces. The chemo will give Hayley time with her precious young family - Banjo 4, Lottie 2 and Eden 10months. I am wanting to raise as much money as possible to ease some of the financial burden on them. Wether that be medical bills, travel to appointments, time off work for Wayne, household bills or making memories. Living the other side of the world makes things even harder for me to help, so I am doing what I do best and that’s raising money.
A message from our darling Hayley “you know your body best, listen to it and check those boobs”.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this. Any amount is appreciated or a simple share.
