Hello, my name is Karen and I’m raising funds to help people in low-income households with pet cremation costs.
Pets are family too, the grief is real, and some pets are that little bit extra special. They deserve to rest in peace back home again after passing, or scattered in a favourite place, or with a planted tree in memory, or made into keepsake jewellery, all of that is your choice to do so. Sadly, not everyone can afford the choice of an individual pet cremation and their beloved pet’s ashes returned to them.
As I work in the funeral industry, I’m aware of the financial help available when we lose our loved ones. So, back in 2023, I wondered if there was help available when we lose our furry loved ones, through PDSA for example. I’d written it down in my little thought book, not realising that less than a year later I’d find out the answer first hand when my Alfie boy fell ill and we needed to let him go. I discovered PDSA don’t cover individual pet cremation, benefits can give a Budgeting Advance for unexpected costs but it doesn’t cover pet costs, and the pet cremation service couldn’t collect Alfie until full payment was made. Thankfully, a family member stepped in for me and I’m forever grateful for that.
A great believer in synchronicities, a few occurrences has made me feel this is something I should do, with the hope of turning it into a charity in the future. I’d like to help others by paying for the basic pet cremation services required to have their pet’s ashes back home with them. Basic services like collection of pet, individual cremation, scatter tube, and delivery of pet’s ashes.
Your donations will help make this happen and contribute to a person’s grief journey. All donations, no matter the amount, are massively appreciated!
Thank you so much, and keep shining!
