Glen Cove neighbors, last year I posted in this group about a young man who had graduated GCHS against all odds, and who had fallen on some hard times.
This year, as a result of losing his job due to the pandemic, I come to you again with hopes that you'll be able to help him as he is in a dire situation. Oscar is a BARBER @ Kustom Kutz and Kurlz in the Landing, 21 Carpenter Street. The pandemic wiped him out financially and when he wasn't able to make rent, he was kicked out. He has spent the last 24 nights working all day, and walking the streets all night, napping here and there. Yes, he is employed, but business is slow and he lives on tips.
Bottom line, he is losing hope, and that is a dangerous thing. He is all alone in Glen Cove, and has NOBODY. Imagine that for one second: quarantined ALONE, for months. That has to take a toll on a human being.
He is prideful and doesn't even want anyone to take pity on him. I reached out to him a few times during the quarantine to see if there was anything he needed, and he insisted repeatedly that he was fine, and that God is good. This GoFundMe would mortify him.
Please, frequent his place of work, introduce yourself to him, become his customer, make a connection. He needs $$$, food, an A/C unit. Looks like some awesome neighbors have volunteered to donate a microwave and a mini fridge. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.
Could you reach out and help make him whole again, perhaps offering kindness, comfort, hope or guidance to this invisible soul? His story is one for the books. Do you have a place he could stay, or perhaps a pandemic-proof paying job you could offer to him?
