About 3 weeks ago, Leticia's father, Orlando, received a pretty startling diagnosis. Due to complications from diabetes and poor circulation because of previous heart issues, he developed necrosis in his right foot, with the fear of the infection spreading to other parts of his body. Initially, the doctors in their hometown of Formiga believed they could save his foot by improving circulation through a stent procedure in his heart.
Orlando spent two weeks in the hospital, waiting for an appointment with a specialist in the closest major city, Belo Horizonte. After finally getting admitted to a specialist and after better examination, the specialist determined that emergency surgery was necessary to amputate Orlando’s foot to prevent the necrosis from spreading further which could become fatal.
The initial surgery took place on July 4th, 2024, with a second surgery taking place on July 11th.
Humbly, and with our hat in our hands, we are reaching out to ask for support in raising funds to help with the expenses of Orlando’s surgery and the subsequent recovery processes and a new prosthetic foot to help him get back to living a mobile and healthy life.
We are so grateful for your help, any little donation will go a long way. Thank you so much. Much love to all of you!
