#Community of Sumas Prairie, BC Flood Fund

Donation protected
A few days ago the evacuation order was lifted in certain areas of Sumas Prairie, however as of December 3rd this order was rescinded, and evacuation remains in effect. The recovery and restoration post flood will be a long road for everyone affected. The community of Arnold has continued to come together, as have all communities devastated by this flood.

Sumas Prairie remains in some danger with a continued water advisory. We have managed to get back into some homes however, with no water, constant power outages and the US river that continues to flow into our backyard this threatens the rebuild of the community.

With big hearts we thank everyone for the continued support, keeping the animals safe and sheltered, for reading of this campaign, watching the news, donating and sharing this link.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Sumas Prairie Community and the small community of Arnold where the devastation continues and fear of the unknown is looming. People have come together so beautifully amidst the flood and we hope more than ever that in time, the families and community of Sumas Prairie can restore their lives and livelihood.

Storms came, went and came again. Rainy season is in full swing and evacuation is still in effect.  This land will never be the same again nor will the people of the community. With a lot of faith, patience and we hope, in time, government support, they can begin to rebuild. In the meantime, folks are displaced, animals now are sheltered safely under cover from the storms.

It's never been more clear as to how difficult this is for people and families to be displaced, out of their homes with no end in sight.  We are grateful to everyone who are opening their homes to to give people and animals shelter, and some comforts of home while the community does what they can to assemble themselves.

At this time it's all about safety, which means leaving the comforts of home and business built over the years.  Donations will continue to help to; rebuild where possible,  find new homes or shelter, safe transport and shelter of animals so that no more life is lost due to floods.

In the Sumas Prairie there were several new and emerging business, from nationally known companies to  compassionate wellness products farmed locally, built with heart and passion.

We appreciate all that is being done and we thank you for your continued support in sharing this page and these stories.

Severe storm warnings loom over the already devastated communities of Sumas Prairie, Abbotsford, Fraser Valley.  Today the entire focus was getting the cows off of Sumas Mountain for fear of mud slides but also the aggressive, wind gusting and life threatening storms, getting them to safe, lower ground with that is sheltered. Thanks to friends of friends of friends who offered their property for shelter.  Two of the 4 cows pictured below playing as siblings do.

Being kind never gets old.  Being animal kind is supreme.

With no running water and the fear of another flood, main focus for the community is evacuation, yet again.

Tomorrow will be focused on getting the sheep, goats and our friendly ram also on lower ground, away from the harm that a rain storm of this level can bring.  This rebuild, which we hope begins soon, will take years. Our hearts and mind are with everyone out there.

That's Greg right up front, he was rescued by @goodfarmandco @sandralaratta from a place that was not so kind to him. He is super sweet and quite a charmer. Let's get this bug fur family back in some shelter that will give them the comfort they need.

In the words of Tim McGraw, 'always stay humble and kind'.

These words could not be more true of the generous couple sheltering family, friends and animals in Sumas Prairie, community of Arnold and to the man handed over his truck, the man who didn't think twice to take in 4 cows and the neighbors who rowed out every day, all day, all last week making sure any animals left behind were safe.

This weekend brought about some sun, the flood gate opened a bit and water slowly evaporated. It's not all gone but its not 6ft deep in some areas anymore.

We are in a province known for rain, so we're hopeful it stays away, however the planning for this is always in effect and things change moment to moment.

Donations will continue to help with food and shelter, get clean up done as quickly as possible and to get animals out of harms way before the rain comes again.

We've increased the fundraiser goal so that trailers can get to the animals in the event of another flood. Let's help get the fur families safely sheltered until they can go back home.

This motley crew pictured above here thanks everyone for your donations, they are all split up at the moment however they are very appreciative, we (humans) thank you all too!

If you all there can help share this link as wide as possible, on social media, we are grateful.

This was only a few days ago, today the water has gone down a bit allowing for some supplies to be dropped off on some areas and a bit of clean up started.

There is a rain storm upon them again in the coming days, there is a lot of planning happening right now, as much as can be done considering the uncertainty.

There are very brave and bold people who have been tending to any animals that are around the community, making sue they are safe, calm, fed and well taken care of.

At any given moment something can change, this morning there was a need for more hay, a vet, groceries, etc., if there are vehicles, boats,  trailers any kind of transport vehicles for animals please reach out to us at this page or on social media.

This morning I got word that a few folks still there on Sumas Mountain rescued a neighboring dog, Pito (below).  Pito was locked in one of the barns, when the rising water pushed the barn door open, Pito escaped and miraculously made it to the top step of his home.  He waited patiently on the steps not yet covered in water.   Our folks who have been checking in on all the animals in the community spotted Pito were able to get him over the gate and onto the higher ground of the deck, feeding him and making sure he was safe as they moved on through the now lake like roads.  Pito is now safe with his owner.

The same folks managed to get to a local dairy farm, feed the cows, bottle feeding the young calves including one new born and another one on the way that was birthed right then and there.

Truly amazing people with great spirit and determination.

The Sumas Prairie Community are doing everything they can to save all lives.

We thank the Community for the support they have shown their neighbors and community, both furry and non.

Many folks including my family have evacuated as we all know, with the aid of SAR and community efforts. The perseverance and faith of the community is something hopefully we can all support if we can, however we can. Sharing this link is as important as donating.

The surrounding community are graciously providing shelter and food for those who have had to leave their homes behind., including the amazing people at Tradex and all around Abbotsford.

This is a truly devastating situation, if you are wondering how to help; donate, share, post, repost.

My family and many others were rescued this week, which seems like forever ago, we can only imagine how long it feels for them.

With the help of incredible fire and rescue teams and other community members and neighbors, both with urgency and patience, boats and SAR aided people and animals to get to safety. Our girl Sesame here in this video and her family-pack with her.

Our goal is to help those who are helping others.

We are raising funds to help keep the animals safe and fed, supplies for the Sumas Prairie community, clean water, food, dog food, feed, meds, etc., to help all those in need and those opening their homes to those thrust out of theirs.

Our hearts and minds go out to all the people of Sumas Prairie and Abbotsford, to Search and Rescue and everyone who has banded together in this tragic event, we thank you and offer this page to support and raise funds all those in need in the Sumas Prairie.

It takes a village.

Thank you.
Friends, Family and Supporters of everyone in Sumas Prairie and the Fraser Valley.
