I'm reaching out of behalf of our husband/Dad/friend Tony Costa.
A lot of you might remember Tony was hospitalized in March with Sepsis, requiring A months long hospitalization and months of recovery.
He was able to return back to work, albeit after breaking his left foot, but was doing well, being followed by the wound clinic.
Then on October 10, Tony became critically ill at work, and after being rushed to MGH by his boss, Tony quickly developed Necrotizing Faciitis of his left foot, requiring an emergency amputation of his foot and subsequently a week later the remainder of his left lower leg and ICU stay at Mass General. We are so grateful to those who thought quick and got him there in time to save his life. His care team has been incredible. We are so lucky he has such amazing clinicians caring for him.
Tony really loves his job, and his goal is to get back to it, but it is going to be an even more challenging recovery and rehab. The current plan is to treat him with IV antibiotics for 6 weeks, and he will hopefully be heading to Rehabilitation at Braintree Rehab this week.
We realize things are difficult for people, however, any donation would go directly to helping Tony and his family with his direct medical care and needs, and any adaptations he will need when he can eventually come home.
Thank you,
Michelle and Tony
