Helping Oliver Dan
Donation protected
Hello, friends and fellow animal lovers.
Oliver Dan turns 3 years old this month. He came into my life after my original heart dog passed away in 2021. In our short time together, Oliver and I have had shared many adventures. From hiking our local state parks to road tripping to New Mexico and Colorado to cuddling on the couch, we are inseparable. He truly is the little heartbeat at my feet, and I hope we have many more years together.
On April 2nd, we discovered that his kidneys are not functioning correctly. Our first examination and urinalysis indicated possible renal failure.
Twenty-four hours and two more tests later, we have more questions than answers. What we do know is this: Oliver's kidneys are being attacked by some sort of infection. The possible culprits are endless:
- Tick-borne illness?
- Leptospirosis? (He is vaccinated, but it does not cover all forms of Lepto)
- Cushing's Syndrome?
- Addison's Disease?
The exhaustive process of running a second round of tests has begun. We are thankful to have caught this issue early and are hopeful that our veterinarian and internist can come to a clearer diagnosis in order to prevent additional damage to Oliver's kidneys.
I am reaching out in hopes of getting assistance with his medical bills (attached below) as we attempt to get a definitive diagnosis as to why his kidneys are in distress. Oliver and I appreciate any help as we navigate this very unexpected news. With a little luck and generosity, Oliver Dan can continue to go on many more adventures... or at least get plenty more cuddles and kisses for years to come!
From the bottom of both of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story. If you are able to donate, know that the funds will go directly to Oliver's medical bills. Should we raise more than we need, I will donate the money to the Fort Worth Animal Shelter and The Beagle Freedom Project. If you are unable to donate, know that we understand and would greatly appreciate you sharing our story.
Again, thank you.
