Hi, as many of you know, i have a dog named Olive. She is mine and my family’s baby. Unfortunately on Sunday, August 21 she got caught under the garage door and hurt her back. We couldn’t really figure out the exact issue on this day because she wasn’t experiencing any kind of walking issues, but we took her to the vet on Monday morning, and they noticed she had some back pain. They prescribed us some pain medication and sedative’s to help her calm down so that she didn’t overwork herself, and cause more issues. She did well on the medication until Thursday morning we noticed she seemed to be in more pain than before. We took her back to the vet and they gave us some muscle relaxers, and when we got home we administered them. By Friday morning she was unable to walk. It was so heartbreaking to see my poor baby wobbling and dragging her hind legs across the floor. We spoke to our vet and they recommended us to go to a neurologist emergency vet. We took her in and they did some testing and this morning they found a hematoma blood clot attached to her spinal cord. They got her started with surgery and she made it out!! But, the cost for surgery, mri, bloodwork, x-rays, and medication altogether was about $12,000. Being that my family and I struggle already, this has already made a huge impact on us.
