Hey everybody!

I’m Johnika - or Nika, as my loved ones call me. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love & support following the USA Today article written by Madeline Mitchell and photographed by Jack Gruber.

I agreed to share my family’s journey because I believed it could help chip away at the stigma surrounding homelessness. These situations can happen quickly - often in the blink of an eye - and to people you might never expect.

I’m deeply honored that USA Today asked to share our story. I am FLOORED by the compassion so many have shown my family. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for your kindness, generosity, and encouragement.
