Helping Natanya, Jeff, Miriam, and Elijah
Donation protected
Welcome, family and friends of Natanya, Jeff, Miriam, and Elijah - thank you for visiting this page! I wanted to provide an opportunity to help the incredible Rome family for so many of you who love and support them.
As many of you are aware, on November 13 Natanya experienced a bad headache, slurred speech, and blurred vision in her left eye. After MRI and CT scans at the ER, Natanya's medical team determined that she had experienced several small strokes due to dissection of her carotid artery. 24 hours after her hospital admission, doctors confirmed that Natanya had experienced another stroke - leaving her unable to verbally communicate and with numbness on the right half of her body. Natanya was transferred to Brigham and Women's Hospital for a very successful surgery, where her team placed 3 stents in her carotid artery to restore blood flow to her brain. In the days since, she has begun her recovery in the ICU with a plan to transfer to inpatient rehabilitation care once she is able. Natanya and Jeff have 2 young children - Miriam (2.5) and Elijah (almost 8 months). Before her stroke, Natanya was the primary caregiver for the children, and Elijah was exclusively breast fed. He has had extreme difficulty transitioning to a bottle, and after several days of heroic support and feeding attempts from neighbors and Natanya's sister Elyana, Elijah had to be admitted to a hospital for dehydration and creation of a feeding plan, including a temporary feeding tube.
The Rome family has a long, challenging road ahead, and I know so many of us desire to help in any way we can. They will need to hire a long-term, full-time nanny during Natanya's recovery, and are facing substantial healthcare costs as well. All contributions go directly to the Rome family to help ease the burden and stress of these financial hurdles. Thank you for considering a gift to help lighten their load during this difficult time.
