My name is Corrin Atlas. I am married to the love of my life, Nachshon Atlas, and we have three amazing children - David Eitan (4.5), Lia Raz (3), and Oz Raphael (2). Ten years ago we made Arizona our home.
Before I go into explaining why I’m reaching out to you, it is important for me to convey that we did everything in our power and resources to avoid reaching this point. Someone once told me it takes courage to ask for help. I didn’t understand how true that statement was until now. I wish I didn’t need to but our family needs all the help it can get.
Our story: Last year, just around the time of the COVID outbreak, Nachshon was rushed to the hospital with a sudden collapse of his systems. The doctor who treated him was shocked by his condition. He suffered such a major collapse that he lost his vision, thankfully gaining it back months later. But that was just the beginning. Following endless medical tests, we received the news - Nachshon has a kidney disease called "polycystic kidney.” The only cure is a kidney transplant, and with both kidneys collapsed, Nachshon has to undergo dialysis three times a week until a match was found.
With an incredibly weakened immune system, Nachshon was forced into maximum isolation. As a result, our family’s main breadwinner could no longer work. As the new challenging reality hit, I worked around the clock finding every creative way to contribute to our family’s financial stability. We used the remaining savings and relied on family support. Unfortunately, with three young children at home and Nachshon requiring care, my time is limited and my contribution is limited.
The good news! Thanks to amazing people and God willing, we are in the advanced stages of finding a suitable donor in Israel. You might wonder - why Israel? When we received the news about Nachshon’s kidney disease and need for a transplant, we launched a massive campaign to search for a donor. People commonly wait years, so when we received news that a possible living donor was found in Israel, we researched it further. Surprisingly, we found out that undergoing the surgery there would cost significantly less than undergoing it in the US.
With immense hope and faith, Nachshon flew out to Israel urgently a month ago to undergo the required tests. With God willing, he will be able to complete the process on the way to a kidney transplant, and ultimately, a full recovery.
What does this mean? In the coming year, our family will have to move from Arizona to Israel to support Nachshon's kidney transplant surgery, treatments, and subsequent rehabilitation. We will rely on our family in Israel to help with our stay there .
Both Nachshon and I are optimistic and resourceful people. We live a simple life, however with medical bills piling, liabilities, a mortgage, and health insurance payments, we are barely keeping our heads above water.
All we want is for Nachshon to complete the process, recover, and return home and live a fruitful, happy life with his family.
Thank you so much for reading our page!
With gratitude and humility, love and wishes of health to all.
