Hi my name is Ethan and our home had a fire on Saturday August 14th. Our electricity had been out since August 11 around 4pm and when the power was restored on Saturday it caused a fire.
We were not home for the day we were at my grandmas in Imlay City because it was the 3rd day without power. Got the notification on my moms phone at around 5:40 on the living room Ring Camera that there was motion so we were happy the power came back on. She went back on to check my animals on the camera about 6:20 and I saw something that looked like smoke then saw something bright red and the smoke detector was going off. So she called 911. Firefighters and police went there while we jumped in the car to get home. My friend Ryan helped by telling them about our animals inside. They think it was something over near the stove and microwave area the ignited but waiting on further inspection. Fire Damage was caused to the kitchen & dining room. Water damage to the finished basement, living room, hallway and bedroom, walls and floors and ceilings. Smoke damage to most of the house. I’m sure a lot will be salvaged but will have the smell of a campfire. Also insurance should cover a lot hopefully.
I am creating this go fund me to try and help them with daily expenses, my mom missing overtime that she usually works to take care of things and maybe replacing some items that might not be covered by insurance. Also for purchasing totes and a storage unit to store whatever can be salvaged during clean up and rebuildingSo without having a kitchen to cook meals and my mom being diabetic it will get very expensive just for food. We are currently living at a hotel so daily routines is a little bit of a challenge.
My parents will not ask for help (they are stubborn) so I wanted to try to at least help financially to their daily needs. I have already left my summer job because I am moving to college in 2 weeks I would love to be able to help myself but my parents don’t want me to take the semester off.
