Family and Friends,
As some of you may know, in 2022 we almost lost my beautiful mother, Susan, to complications from lung disease and heart issues. After 2 months in the hospital and a post-acute care facility, she was released to an assisted living facility that could provide the medical services she required. She has made miraculous strides in her recovery but still requires a level of care that neither myself nor my family can provide ourselves.
Throughout her life, my mother has always put everyone else’s needs and happiness before her own. Unfortunately, this left her with no financial assets or savings to help pay for the extremely high costs of assisted living ($3,600 per month). To make matters worse, last year my father contracted the West Nile virus from a mosquito bite and experienced a rare complication that left him effectively paralyzed. He is valiantly learning to walk again and is contributing what he can but is unable to work.
From 2020 to 2022, I put my career on hold to stay at home and take care of my son Reef during the pandemic. I have recently restarted my career and have no doubt that I will soon be in a better financial position to take on her expenses.
In the meantime, we are trying our best to cover her living and medical costs but the elder care machine in America is unrelenting. At over $3,600 a month for rent/care, she is facing expulsion from her assisted living unless we can catch up on payments. I truly credit her assisted living facility with saving her life and allowing her to thrive in a very difficult situation. It was one of the more affordable options I could find in the area besides a state-run facility, which, if you’ve ever seen the inside of, would not be conducive to her recovery.
My mother is an absolutely amazing woman, as I’m sure any of you who have had the privilege of meeting her would agree. She deserves to be in a place where she is properly cared for and close to family (especially her grandson Reef). She has taken care of everyone her entire life, now it's time to take care of her.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask that you donate, if possible, and share this link with friends and family. Any amount will help immensely and is much appreciated.
Thank you!
